I'm Yatesing This Column

Sorry guys, no time for apost this week. I'm busy and I'm moving on Saturday. Check back in next week for a guaranteed Oceanliner fix. Godspeed.

Yates here, just to remind all you boys and girls that Yatesing a column would involve writing a very thoughtful, intelligent opinion article on an interesting and pertinent subject. Sadly, this was not the case with this week's oceanliner, more of a Spencer, all hype with no substance.

I take offense to Yates' comment.

First, "Yatesing" a column would mean that you have such an easy subject that you could write a great column about it without even raising your wrist to type... but you end up blowing it and write something that is the written equivalent of a drunken, slurred Caldwell/Oel 4AM argument.

Second, a "Spencer" would be when you are given a boring subject that is nearly impossible to write about, but somehow manage to turn out the literary equal of Swift's "A Modest Proposal," Twain's "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," or Konrad's "Heart of Darkness." This is a tribute to Spencer's profound wit and glorious intelligence. And his Winning Eleven 9 prowess.

Third, this column was clearly "Gutied Away," as in the writer is just being plain lazy. "No time for a post this week. I'm busy and I'm moving on Saturday" clearly translates to "I'm laying in bed until the last minute on Saturday, not putting on clothes, and am too lazy to write a 200 word, 15 minute post. Now where is my half-eaten gyro from last night? Actually, maybe I should start packi- wait is that a James Bond movie on TBS??? I'm definitely watching that all day!"

Hope this clears things up.

What does it mean when a comment is longer than the post it is responding to? Is this the nexis of the universe? Is this blog going to collapse into itself?

"I'm on first and first. How can the same street intersect with itself? I must be at the nexus of the universe." - Kramer in honor of Old's reference.

Silly Spencer, James Bond movies hardly ever come on TBS. I would definitely be watching a movie that I have seen many times before on some premium channel.

By the way, how far out are we from Winning Eleven 11? Talk about nexus of the universe...
